Holiday Helping Hands, Ends TOMORROW

This Friday, December 6th is the last day for Helping Hands donations to be dropped off to your child’s classroom.  Thank you to those who have already donated.  What a generous community. Please send in any remaining new, unwrapped clothing, toys and books, or gift cards, tomorrow. Room parents sent out additional information and a sign-up, to contribute. Thanks so much for your support! 

Calling All Student Artists! Enter the National PTA Reflections Arts Program by December 9th

All students are invited to participate in the National PTA Reflections Arts Program. This contest in six arts categories allows students in all grade levels to express themselves through their gifts & talents in the ARTS! Three winners from each category and each level (primary K-2 and intermediate 3-5) will advance to the county. This is a great opportunity! We had several Cold Spring students win awards at the county level last year. 

This year's theme is "Accepting Imperfection,” which is intended to inspire students to express their creativity while embracing their unique perspectives. Students may enter their original work in one or more of the following categories: Dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Entries are due at 11:59 pm on December 9th.

PAWS for Partnership: Friday, December 13 Flyer HERE

PAWS for Partnership, an open house experience, will take place on Friday, December 13 starting at 9 am. Join the school administrative team and fellow parents for a cup of coffee and light refreshments from 9 am -9:30 am. From 9:30 am - 10:30 am, you will have an opportunity to join your children in the classroom.

Help us improve pedestrian safety!

The PTA is campaigning for Montgomery County to add a more visible crosswalk to the intersection of Wooden Bridge and Falls Chapel and to add a crossing guard for the before- and after-school hours. Please consider emailing Montgomery County to vocalize your support for this project. You can email TrafficOps@montgomerycountymd.gov, and see below for sample language to use. In the meantime, please take care to fully stop at this intersection, and yield to pedestrians crossing the road.

To whom it may concern:

I am a parent of a student at Cold Spring Elementary School and would like to request a crosswalk and crossing guard at the intersection of Wooden Bridge and Falls Chapel Road in Potomac, MD 20854.

Cold Spring Elementary School is two blocks from this intersection. Many of our students (aged kindergarten through fifth grade) walk and ride bikes to school, as there are no buses that service the elementary school for our neighborhood. However, cars regularly roll through this intersection or do not stop at all, and I am concerned for the safety of our students.

Could Montgomery County please review the intersection as soon as possible, add a crosswalk going all four ways across the intersection, and add a crossing guard for the before school and after school timeframes?
